My team and I celebrate Halloween by using Nexus to do a 15-table join across 15 different systems in a single query, which has taken us 18 years to accomplish. Scary, but slow and steady wins the race!
In this example, Nexus joins tables across the cloud, enterprise data warehouse, legacy, OLTP, and open-source systems in one shot.
The most amazing part is that we can process the join on any system. For example, in our video demo, we first process the join on Vertica, then on SQL Server, and then on Postgres!
We even have charts to show users which tables in the join are the largest and which system we recommend as the hub, which means the system where the join will take place. However, users can choose any system to process the join, and Nexus will automatically move the tables temporarily to the hub system, process the join, and then remove the tables.
Even more ingenious is that users can choose the MyPC hub, where Nexus will bring back the rows and columns needed for the join from each table back to their PC, and the join will happen using the user’s CPU and memory in the background.
And even more clever, if the data is humongous, the user can choose to process the join on a Nexus Server, which can be configured on-premises or on any cloud.
What is even crazier is that users can join Excel worksheets to these tables and views.
And finally, one of the most important parts is that users can choose to get an answer set or, instead, have the join process and save the results as a table on any system. How nice is that for Tableau and PowerBI users?
While most inventors chose to create a brilliant database, like Snowflake, I decided to put the power of Nexus in the hands of customers and end-users to query, join, and migrate data across all database platforms.
Happy Halloween!

Here is the video of 15-tables joining across 15 database systems in a single query. Warning: This video contains what many experts thought was impossible.
Tom Coffing has also led a team of developers for almost 20 years to create the Nexus, which queries, migrates, and joins data across all systems. Amazingly, Nexus migrates between all the databases below with the click of the mouse.
• MySQL
• Excel
• Microsoft Access
• Snowflake
• Redshift
• Synapse
• BigQuery
• Teradata
• Oracle
• SQL Server
• DB2
• Hadoop
• MapR
• Greenplum
• Postgres
• Vertica
• Netezza
• SAP HANA
• Yellowbrick
• SQLite
The picture above shows Nexus in dark mode migrating Oracle data to Snowflake. Some customers are migrating thousands of tables to Snowflake in a single job.
